  1. +1000 Disclaimer: I did not get hired, so read this at your own risk. I can't help you with what to do, but I think I can help you and others with what not to do. I had a couple interviews with fighter boards, and I would consider myself (humbly) to be a pretty above average and well rounded applicant. And I failed miserably, for real likely the worst interview at the board. I failed because I was stubborn and could not detect/recognize what they were really looking for, and for some additional external reasons out of my control (life isn't fair, but you gotta keep picking yourself up). I came from a place where I had to punch for the high GPA and high academic scores while in college earning dual engineering majors. So that is what I did, at the expense of a lot of fun, but in the end it earned me a job that allowed to pay for most of my civilian ratings. And it took a lot of effort and energy. I would go to interviews/visits and my academic achievement seemed to be unimportant to the board, and it made me really grumpy. Another similar applicant got feedback from his home unit (he was E at the unit), that he wasn't doing anything to really try and become a pilot when he had just finished his electrical engineering degree, and I could sense how grumpy that made him. So if you are someone who busted ass academically, you are going to have to put your thick skin and blinders on. IMO, as brabus said the interview is the most critical component because they don't know you, and unfortunately if you have high grades it seems there is a tendency for people to maybe make some "assumptions" about you (maybe this is justified, stereotypes exists for a reason I guess). You KNOW YOU, they don't, the interview is the only tool they have to see if you'll fit so have some empathy for the board too. The interview is a POPULARITY contest....NOT a capability contest. Read that sentence twice. Anyone who has gotten the interview has likely already been branded capable. Be prepared, be yourself, be happy, be POSITIVE, and prove you will be a GOOD TEAMMATE. They are people just like you, don't geek out with your tail between your legs because of all the green flight suits. If i could do it all over again, I would have treated it like taking a girl out instead of an interrogation in the the school detention office. You might only get ONE chance, so make sure she has fun and knows that you'll be good in the sack later on. With COVID my guard run is likely finished due to age (27, I am fighter at all costs). I spent 35K turning myself into a commercial multi engine pilot, when all I probably had to do was spend a grand or two on at an interview consultant and maybe I would have that fighter slot. Now I am sitting here preparing to pull the pin on active duty so I can have a chance to still go upside down and sling weapons...don't be me lol.

  2. Another NY Post news story today about Hunter Biden's shenanigans and again Twitter outright blocks it, bans those that try to comment on it/share it, etc. To include the WH Press Secretary, the GOP Senate's account, as well as numerous others. Because the information came from a "leak." (Actually, the laptop was abandoned at a repair place and never picked up. Became the owner's per law). But the leaking, as just one example, of Trump's taxes was fair game. It's good to have wingmen.

  3. Not "latest movie" but definitely a greatest: Just made my flight watch 12 O'clock High as a part of mandatory fun before graduation at OTS and they really enjoyed it. Had to keep the tradition going. Don't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me, til I come marching home!

  5. So the FBI has had his hard drive for almost a year, and this is what comes out of it? Dude introduced his business partner to his dad and some raunchy videos of himself on his hard drive? Lock this dude up! Why is it that Hilary, Obama, Biden and his son are all guilty of crimes, and yet with control of the executive, judicial and the majority of the legislative over the last 4 years you haven't been able to scrape together indictments against these criminals? Yet in the meantime almost all of Trump's inner circle have had charges brought against them for one reason or another? Do you really think there is an all-powerful deep state cabal protecting these people? If they are so powerful why is the democratic party so weak all the time? None of this makes any sense old man.

  6. New York Post has a pretty big story regarding that crazy irrepressible Hunter Biden and his dad, Ol' Joe. https://nypost.com/2020/10/14/email-reveals-how-hunter-biden-introduced-ukrainian-biz-man-to-dad/ Which won't matter to nearly any voter one way or the other - you either think the Biden family did bad things or you don't. What is of more interest, to me anyway, is that Facebook and Twitter - neither of which do I personally participate in - have either restricted (FB) or prohibited (Twitter) the sharing of this story since in Twitter's words, "It might be harmful." To whom? And why do they make that determination? But proven to be false Russia, Russia, Russia/pee tape/FBI/CIA/we've got him now stories for 3+ years were just fine. Sure seems to make the case of those companies being in the news/publishing realm and not simply an IT method.

  7. Calling bullshit on this one. A candidate using a teleprompter *during interviews* is mind blowing. If a Republican candidate made even a fraction as many gaffes, you'd never hear the end of it. Oh wait, that's exactly what happened with W. Bush. Does anyone really think Bush was in worse mental shape then as Biden is now? The coverage sure indicates otherwise. He's always been a moron. Now he's a moron who can't think straight. If Trump had any brains, which he probably doesn't, he would just let Biden talk for the entire 90 minute debate. Instead he interrupted for the entire debate, protecting Joe from his greatest weakness: talking.

  8. As well as a life-long bromance with Neil Kinnock as well. Just sayin'... As to positions or policy, what are Biden's positions or policies? His "you'll find out when the election's over"schtick seems to be aided and abetted by the liberal media since they don't pursue these evasions, but rational voters do seem to want to know what they are signing up for. Except for the "anybody but Trump" voters. It could be Satan Hitler and they'll happily pull the lever. As I did against Hillary in 2016.

  9. In all fairness, the ATC dude is simply doing as he's trained. Military guys IFE almost at a routine rate (notice not a single word about the F-35 ejection...who's got his back besides JPRC?)...often for items that turn out to be nothing...but and it would be completely negligent for him to simply say "good luck!" A phone number pass to maintain a chain of communication may be the best he's got in that moment. As Clayton has mentioned above, he's trying his best to do what he can with what he's got. In the same right, a controller should be aware that a four engine airplane losing two engines, leaking fuel, and being on fire is not something to take lightly. I'm sincerely hoping he alerted emergency services of some kind on his own end. Still, it couldn't hurt for him and the crew to meet face-to-face and get some learning on both sides of the radio.

  10. Yea, this part gets super old. I remember when the Sen Maj Leader Reid dropped the nuke to get judges through...and the R's jumped up and down. Then the R's do it (since the the D's opened the hole) and "it's a travesty against the honorable institution of the Senate, Constitution, God, et al." Also...who the fuck is saying on here, with a straight face, that Obama didn't have scandals? The gun-running, Iran, Pred strikes of dubious value (at best) are the big ones I can think of just off the top of my head. Lets not act like Trump's just getting a "rough deal" from the press...he's wants it that way so he can look like some kind of fighter for the people, but only his people. I also have no idea wtf is going on with this latest Russia stuff. Since Trump's busy fucking up his campaign by giving COVID to everyone, it's not really in any news that I've seen.
