  1. Most people want to come back and work full time at the base. That’s not always possible because full time orders are not always in rampant supply. Most units are just looking to make sure that you’ve at least thought and considered the possibility that after you return and complete your seasoning orders, you have a plan in place to put food on the table for mama and the kids. If mama ain’t happy, nobody is happy and your flying will suffer because of it.

  2. Nope, every squadron needs a good bro that's always available to be the DD. No issue unless you make it one.

  3. And apparently good at dealing with men 31 years her senior...just ask Willie Brown.

  4. I agree. Once Biden committed himself to determining that skin color and genitalia were the paramount considerations for his pick, she is the most usable choice for him. **cough - Willie Brown - **cough edited to add: The first joke making the rounds so far: Kamala has less baggage than the other potential picks because she keeps leaving it at Willie Brown's... G'night everybody! I'll be here all week. Tip your servers....

  5. Doubt this is a valid statement since the Army just released their O6 list after Duckworth's hold. However, been hearing rumbling of funny stuff with end of year funding and GS employees are anticipating mass early retirements (due to funding) come next summer.

  6. Anecdotal, but this was my Dad's SSD experience. Didn't got to court, but had to get a lawyer involved and it did take over a year. That being said, I just got my 100% disability, which was a shock. I can still walk (kinda), run (kinda) and lift heavy things (not overhead). But I hurt while doing them, and even more when it's done. Plus I'm about 5 years out from back surgery #3. During the VA screening I moved until discomfort, and was honest about how I felt physically. Legit felt a mountain of stress come off when the doc wasn't fighting to give me more Vit M, more PT, another pain pill, etc. Took down my info professionally, gave me some old man advice (always appreciated), and was just chill. After 21 years...I'm just looking for some chill at this point.

  7. Yup. What mp5g said. I told them while I'd love to work full time for the squadron, I realize its not always an option, but I can always find a mechanical engineering job somewhere. Wanting to go to the airlines is fine, just dont give the impression thats all you're doing it for.

  8. Like everyone said, just dont make it a deal. In college, one of the guys in my fraternity was a recovering alcoholic (Odd environment for a alcoholic I agree). Dude was always the life of the party, sober as a bird. Just hangout.

  9. This weekend was the first time I got to watch a race in real time. Very much enjoyed it.

  10. Interesting thought but those missile attacks had a pretty definitive precursor. Funny that we would put families in Korea and not in Qatar.

  11. No inside baseball but its unusual for a board to sit this long in between reviewing bodies, especially with the As Met available in PRDA. Normally, the As Met is dropped into PRDA about 3/4 of the timeline between board and public release. At this rate, we're looking at late September release. I believe first pin-on month for this board should be November.

  12. When I was a crew chief, my 7-level CDCs covered A-10/F-15/F-16/U-2/MQ-9/Global Hawks, with the idea was that we'd universally assignable. I've stayed in contact with a few AD guys from my crew chief training days. One worked F-16s for a few assignments, now is now an NCO in A-10s, another was recently assigned to KC-135s. Every platform has quirks/intricacies that are relevant even when you're leadership, and retaining long term knowledge on the platform is huge. There is a reason we have such awesome mx in the ANG.

  15. The problem with MX is the same exact problem that is going on elsewhere in the AF. Only thing different is the job of MX blows (ask me how I know...) so people don't have a good time to justify the endless bullshit. But the real problem is what the AF values. And it promotes based on these values. It DOES NOT value mission. It values bullet writing, bullshit leadership courses, ass kissing tours, etc. Oh you took NCOPME bullshit 101, you are on track for the next level. Writing award packages filled with pure bullshit will get you promoted, not busting ass on the line. This promotes pieces of shit just like it does everywhere else in the AF and they are going to continue running it into the ground. Only way you make SNCO is buying into the bullshit they spew. Maybe it is only in my corner of the world but it is as clear as mud here. Man I seem a little salty, but it is tough watching something with such pride and heritage turn into a f***ing dumpster fire.
