  1. I haven’t seen this personally but I honestly don’t know why people (especially retirees) have such a problem with this. I know the military is different but Freedom of Religion is protected under the First Amendment. These are some of the questions that should be asked about these people: Are they loyal to the USAF and the USA? Are they hard workers? Are they doing the job to the best of their ability? If the answers are yes, then I don’t have a problem with them wearing turbans or having beards. —————————————————————— Also, beards DO NOT affect the seal on a gas mask or O2 mask....

  2. I would stop using free time and make that your full time, govt paid job. That's total BS. I agree, contact your congressman if you're not getting any love from your leadership.

  4. Some retirees care because they’re orienting around a stake they drove at the height of their glory days. Others keep driving new stakes.

  6. https://www.ustranscom.mil/cmd/www_igform.cfm for transcom IG. Most likely to get direct resolution. https://www.dodig.mil/Components/Administrative-Investigations/DoD-Hotline/ for DOD hotline compliant. They’ll send it to transcom Ig for resolution and provide oversight and require follow up. Letter to congressman.

  7. Literally has this done Tuesday. Was given an estimate of two weeks DNIF and 3 days quarters. All, depends on how the boys heal up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. As long as their waist isn't too big I wouldn't really care about hats or beards. Priorities people, priorities.

  11. I really can't understand the frustration on this either. We're at a point where finding people who are capable and willing to join the armed forces is becoming harder and harder yet we want to tell people they have to choose their country over their God. That's simply not going to happen.

  12. I went to Portland back in December. It was hard to get a gauge on how important it was honestly because most of the squadron was gone doing training, but the guys I did meet were way cool. I definitely got a Portland-esque vibe though - kind of a big city tempo mixed with a simultaneously laid back kind of feel to it, but while still maintaining their readiness and taking the job seriously.

  13. You can’t just grow a beard willy nilly, you have to be interviewed by a chaplain to determine basis for religious accommodation and it still has to be approved by an 0-6 or higher.

  14. RPA's, we are finding out, are a nightmare to deploy anywhere besides CENTCOM. Turns out, countries with developed Telecom infrastructure dont like it when you want to come in and consume huge portions of their highly limited spectrum. Especially in the middle of a global economic race to develop wireless broadband networks (i.e. 5G) . Furthermore, if people could see the SATCOM bill for RPAs you would remove any sense in your brain about them being a low cost option. It's absolutely insane what bandwidth costs!

  15. Spawn, If I were you, I'd just keep riding it out at your regional until you get the offer from your company of choice. It's only a matter of waiting it out. I've given this same advice to the young guys in my Guard unit as well. Keep doing the mil flying, upgrade at your company then wait it out. If F9, B6 or NK (oh snap!) are your target, then absolutely apply. I would not make the move to any of those though simply to fly bigger metal. If AA, DL, UA, WN (shiiiiit) are what you're aiming for, then 121 PIC time at your regional will be your quickest path. Upgrading to AC/IP (if you aren't already) in your MWS is certainly advisable, but if you want to get to a major ASAP then I would argue your regional is the best bet. Good luck!
