  5. I think Tom Cruise has figured out the retention problem. Line flying O-6, qual’d in at least 4x planes simultaneously, and personal motorcycle storage right on the flight line. Edit: especially since the taxpayers will think this is reality anyway after this movie comes out.

  7. Your if statement is a major qualifier there. Many of us can't even stand the thought of going on a 2 year order to get the big bonus. This is why I'll never understand why the ANG didn't push for the 1 year big bonus, like the AFR was able to get. Also, there are tons of USERRA exempt orders...up on the staff (no sts). The same staff that has denied adding a few vital positions to the list of USERRA exempt status. As for the rest of this thread. Having a boss who doesn't use the proper words, or not having the "right" medals/titles...what a fucked up system.

  8. Also, bear in mind an AGR job and a civilian job will be governed by USERRA laws which requires an employer ‘retain’ you as an employee. While you serve on active duty orders, you still keep your civilian job **and accrue seniority** (for up to 5 years)

  9. I mean if you took the combined total courseware length of all the courses and experience that went into building the 13O curriculum alone, it would take you nearly five years to complete it the traditional way. They’ve frankensteined the 13O curriculum together from AOC/C2, Joint planning, AFFOR staff, WIC, ASG (and more) courses, and are doing it at a breakneck pace that doesn’t remotely enable a basic understanding of the operational level of war, let alone “Multi-Domain C2.” But the CSAF wanted something quick. (Fast, cheap, good. Pick two.) So this is what we got. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not totally scoffing it. I am simply saying you can’t mass produce experts at the operational level like you can from a traditional training pipeline. It takes years AND education to build the required level of understanding. Chuck

  10. Repayment is not necessarily a given. My bonus didn’t have any up front cash options, but I separated 7 months after my annual payout anniversary and was told by finance as long as I had worked (earned) 50% of the bonus there would be no recoupment. They haven’t taken anything back yet....

  11. Big picture is Title 10/Title 32 are AD orders. AGR is generally Title 32, but deployments and some schools (maybe some staff) is Title 10. Either way, these are AD “days” that go towards an AD retirement. As soon as you have 20 years of AD “days,” you are eligible for retirement and immediate retirement benefits (vs. waiting like a traditional guard retirement). Keep in mind, some squadrons are handing out years of AGR orders like candy, others are not. So where you want to live/what unit you want to be in could be on either side of that.

  16. "Combat medals, only man to shoot down 3 enemy aircraft in 40 years, yet you can't get a promotion"...sounds like the Navy has about as much use for combat experience as the Air Force when it comes to promotion boards.

  19. Never give up hope. Keep your head down, do your work as best you can, and keep doing the right thing by those under your authority and influence (yes those are two different things). You can help those coming after you a LOT by going through what you’re going through. I say this from 2APZ to O-5. I PCS’d from where I got passed over, got a new SR who is worth his salt, and got a DP without even a full year in the seat. I’ve got a line number to O-5 now. Senior Raters know a good officer when they see one, and the current guidance is to promote good men/women. It’s all about attitude. Don’t give up, and definitely don’t draw your validation from the USAF’s bankrupt promotion system. You have a LOT more to offer. You’re not done yet. FF

  20. Funny how you can be inspired by a movie, work toward a goal through high school, college, get a commission, fly for almost 22 years, and retire before the sequel comes out.

  24. I would not put it past prominent Dems to ask foreign governments to not recognize the winner of a race as the President if they didn't like the results and thought they could get away with it. They could state they recognize Candidate X for President and if the State Governments of the largest, most prominent states refused to accept the results, the world just might follow them. As it would be the equivalent of an H-bomb on our economy, this might cause all the other institutions in our country to say screw the real results and give in. They currently flout federal law, interfere and attempt to hamper federal law enforcement when it suits them and ignore the growing censorship, exclusion and harassment of "woke capitol" on private citizens in the economy and public sphere when it suits them. They suffer no repercussions and only have more incentive to try more. The Republic as we know it is dying.
