  1. Would have loved to see the dumbfounded look in the face of the the guy (or gal) who got promoted BTZ with a P.

  2. As an 11F separating from AD all of this doesn't suprise me - but it's still hard to watch from the sidelines. 75% promotion rate for MSG dudes? Create some room at the B Course because we could really use these hard charging leaders in a MWS in CENTCOM. For me, ever since TAMI-21 I stopped listening to anything Big Air Force SAYS and started only paying attention to what Big Air Force DOES. For all those looking at a bonus or extending their ADSC past their UPT commitment I would fence in appropriately and do so only with very high SA. Get your ATP and be ready with options as you get close to your commitment. Best of luck to everyone!

  3. I always thought Army aviation was selective and competitive until I started rushing Air Force units. Didn't realize I was dumb and that anyone can fly Apaches. Anyway, If I could do it all over again I would for sure go Blue at a young age. I am sure most Army pilots would agree. I am thankful for getting my foot int the door of Aviation as a pilot, but I have had enough of Army. I love the CH-47 and the cargo community, but I simply can't stand the Army. I did the opposite of what you did. I was a W2 first then went commission. Worst idea/decision I could have ever done. Army aviation is a warrant officers world. I had crappy scores as well. I went into the test thinking "I am a pilot, I should smoke this thing" but it wasn't the case. Don't let your numbers discourage you. Unfortunately you will have to wait 180 days until you can re-test but for sure take the TBAS asap so you can get a PCSM score. Numbers are important, but I think more important is for you to be able to present yourself as the right fit for the squadron. At least that was my experience when I was rushing multiple heavy squadrons. I had one chief pilot tell me, after I told him how many hours I had and deployments, that most of the guys didn't care about your flying experience. They can teach you how to fly, but they cant necessarily teach you how to be a "cool" guy to go drink beer with. This translates to you being a tolerable guy to sit next to while on a 8 hr sortie across the pond. During visit to another squadron, I meet a guy that was selected with scores in the 50s at age 31. Everyone just liked the guy and he kept hanging around during every UTA and squadron happy hours. Your age shouldn't be an issue as well. There is a new MFR out pushing the age limit to 33 with waivers up to 35. The process is long so don't wait to contact other squadrons. I was hired about a year ago and I probably wont make it down to UPT until next year. I would also recommend casting a wide net if your really want to make the jump. I have a list of contacts I could forward to you of squadrons I rushed a few years ago. Most chief pilots will probably tell you the same thing. Cast a wide net with priority in getting a UPT slot. PM if you have anymore questions. Lastly, don't take rejection personally. I was constantly rejected by squadrons because of my age or the pain in the ass that comes with transferring to the Air Force. The process is long but not impossible. Good Luck! Cheers

  4. Thanks for posting. I’d never read that. Interestingly, according to that guidance the “1/xx shop chief” strat is valid, while the primary strat AFSOC uses appears invalid. We use a YG (year group) strat method and think it’s the bees knees, but other MAJCOMs apparently have no idea what it is. The whole system is so dumb.

  5. I think the frustration is that that the stratification happens when you're a senior captain, and if you're slightly below average or a late bloomer, well, you're fate has already been written and you just don't know it. On the flip side, if someone is on the golden path, they're pretty much set unless they are a complete piece of crap, and even then they may get to wreck havoc as a sq/cc before the AF figures out they are toxic

  6. I guess I was under the impression that job performance and strats were related. Silly me.

  7. Prda worked 5 days ago for me.... i’ve never heard of records being on talent marketplace. What we we need are more web based services where everything is scattered about the interwebs... maybe talent marketplace will be the one stop shop eventually? We can only hope.

  9. I've done both. Most of the questions are similar, but in a joint board interview they will ask you your preference of airframe. I'd be prepared to answer honestly while keeping in mind that there will be representatives from each airframe on the interviewing panel. Focus on the reasons why you want to fly your first choice rather than focusing on reasons you don't want to fly the other options represented, if that makes sense. In other words, don't shit all over the planes/squadrons that aren't of interest to you. Good luck!

  10. The day after that goes into effect is when it comes to light 98% of the military is gay. Who knew. Of course that’ll piss off all the C-model drivers because their niche is being threatened and now they’ll just be seen as mainstream.

  11. I don't know if I'd go do far as to "slob a knob", but I'd certainly be willing to write that I was gay on a government form for $50k

  14. I had no idea they had an unsponsored route. So either way even if I don’t get picked up by a unit through applying Ill get placed somewhere. Which ultimately, is my goal to just get with a unit and start flying. I was leaning towards more AD because the reserve and guard units are very selective and right now obtaining my PPL is getting difficult due to lack of funds, which is generally a requirement for most units. Let’s say a guy does finish at the bottom of his class in AD or Reserve does that mean he won’t ever get to fly? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. The process takes forever either way. Go for both. And they should already assume you're dumb. You joined the Army to fly.
