  1. Open kimono time: I make unwanted sexual passes at my wife almost daily. Sometimes dressed as a jet pilot, sometimes as a guy, sometimes with an open kimono which is actually a towel too small to fit around my fat ass. Phew, glad we got that out there in case I talk to anybody ever. Wouldn’t want to tank anybody’s career.

  2. Boss called me to the office today. Made the O-5 cut. PRF was a P, not even a Super P. PRF that wasn’t great but records under it were good and definitely undercuts the “only the bottom line matters” theory (mine was meh), but it still worked out thankfully. Anyway, cheers to those who made it. Sorry to those who didn’t. USAF gonna USAF and we can all find our way regardless - lord knows I had my backup plan lined up if it hadn’t worked out. ZB

  3. Until Tech. Sgt. John Chapman's heroics on Afghanistan’s Takur Ghar mountaintop in March 2002, this was the only known photo of a Medal of Honor action taken while it was under way. Joe Jackson (center, top) had just put his C-123 down to pick up the combat control team airmen. The runway is littered with aircraft wreckage from a CH-47, Cessna O-2, C-130 and UH-1.(DoD) https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/your-air-force/2019/01/14/air-force-legend-medal-of-honor-recipient-joe-jackson-dies-at-95/

  4. I am surprised there isn't more discussion here of what is shaping up to be the most important election cycle of my lifetime. I don't think the difference in the two political parties has ever been more wide. Democrats are offering everything under the sun in an effort to snag voters. Free healthcare for illegals. What happens when word gets out that illegal immigrants will get that free health care? More seriously sick illegals start showing up. Disease shows up. That will just add to the burden that is already being placed on this country. Homelessness is a huge problem in this country. Look at what is going on in California right now. Where do you house the additional hundreds of thousands of unemployed and homeless people who have crossed the border illegally? 100 billion dollars for blacks that are living in poverty, unemployed or underemployed who don't have the means to buy a house. This is meant to close the race/wage gap? The government has tried this before with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. And my guess is, regardless of race, if you are living in poverty, are unemployed or underemployed, your credit reflects that. Are we really going to give folks with bad credit and no job/low paying jobs 25 grand to buy a house they don't qualify for or can't afford? And is this not the definition of racism? Giving government funds to a specific race? And see my statement above about the homeless illegals. We will soon be giving them money to buy houses too. Free college tuition? No student debt? I think this one is brilliant on the part of the Democrats. They know that our education system indoctrinates young folks with liberal views. Especially, our colleges. The more young people they can get into that indoctrination system, the better. Aside from that, a bachelors degree becomes even more worthless because everyone has one and tuition rates skyrocket. Reparations for descendants of slaves. Reparations for gays. How does that work? How much and to whom? If the check is big, I bet you see a lot of new gay folks. I am not saying I would slob a knob for 50k but I know some folks who would. Medicare for all? Kicking 140 million people off of their current healthcare? Sh!t, it wasn't that long ago that the Dems were running on "keeping your healthcare and doctor". That sure changed quick. The good thing is that your average American is not on board with any of this. The only folks who are, already vote Democrat. These policies aren't swinging any votes to the left or away from Trump. So far, Trump has been guaranteed reelection. Rest assured, there are people hard at work right now working on the next fabricated scandal to take Trump down. It'll be even bigger than the Russian collusion story. They are just waiting on the right time to drop it. It'll be 6-9 months before the election and perfectly timed. That is all they've got. Free sh!t and made up scandals.

  5. True, but it seems the perception of "importance" in the minds of the general public has been ratcheted up into dangerous levels. I intentionally tried to avoid much of the election coverage last cycle and found it is damn near impossible to escape while existing in the modern world. I believe most people are freely consuming political media round the clock with zero consideration of its effects. Some are motivated by politics to commit crimes and violent acts with increasing frequency, and each one committed lowers the bar for the next. The old and new media has had four years to think about how to win this go 'round. The answer is not to be more reasonable and objective, the answer is silence the right and crank the left hype up beyond 11. We're actually being told the fate of the planet depends on our political choices. We were also told that back in the 1980s, but only for a few minutes on the evening news and in newsprint. I think this one will f with people's minds far beyond any election before.

  8. My big question is about continuation for next year, assuming I will not make the cut at 1APZ. I’m all for continuing to 20 as a Major, but my fear is that I would just be separated instead. Does anyone know about the continuation boards, and rates on the people not offered continuation? I’ve looked at the past few years here, and seen that everyone passed over has been offered continuation.

  10. Cannot emphasize this enough. This has been mentioned for years on this board, I'll let it percolate back to top. The timing on "in the zone" boards are much different in the ARC. I left Active Duty just prior to my 1BPZ LtC board. Because I had a firm separation date, that PRF went to the board as Recommendation Only (blank 9-lines, just a P). As with all the double speak with OPRs/PRFs, the message was sent. This person is not promotable. I was not on AD when that 1BPZ board convened, nor the following year when my commissioning cohort met our IPZ board. Then I get into the ARC, where everything is based on the FY in which I pinned on the current rank. ROPMA/DOPMA laws drive to 7 FYs in your rank. So in the fifth FY in my current rank, I meet the Position Vacancy (PV) board. My ARC PV board was roughly 2 years after my AD IPZ for LtC. The PV board is loosely equivalent to an AD BPZ board, but with different rules. There is only 1 PV board, not like the 2BPZ & 1BPZ boards on AD. In order for your PRF to meet that board, there is one big requirement--you must occupy that next rank's position number on your unit's UMD. For instance, if you're meeting a LtC PV board, you must be in a LtC position number on the UMD. That simple administrative act allows your leadership to push your PRF to the PV board. In the 6th FY in your current rank, you meet your "in the zone" ARC board. The universal requirement here is having a pulse, AND having your PME complete. That's it. Correspondence PME does the trick. After you've been selected for promotion and then enter the 7th FY in your current rank, your local leadership has the option to let you pin on at any time, not having you wait until the month where you'd actually be in your rank for 7 years. That's why you see a bunch of guys pinning on Maj / LtC on 1 Oct in the ARC...beginning on the 7th FY for those dudes/dudettes. The timing of these boards mean that you could be passed over on AD promotion board timing, and not even have met your PV/IPZ board timing for the ARC. So if the AD clownshow tells you you're a non-select, you know have actionable data to decline continuation and start getting prepped for interviews, both in the ARC and possibly airlines if that's your flavor. Don't forget...the pilot hiring era we are currently in is without historical precedent. There has literally never been a better time in the history of aviation to get hired as an airline pilot. It's a massive life change to get out, with a family or not...but try not to let the fear of the unknown drive your decision here. You've done harder shit than this. The time is now. If I've said anything incorrect here, please correct me ARC bros. This info needs to get out to the guys on AD who are at decision time. Thanks.

  11. Sorry to hear that; that was me two years ago, and me again last year. It forced me to make some career choice changes that I hadn’t planned on making for another 4-5 years. But I made the changes, jumped in the reserves and got a sweet civy job. This year my reserve PRF came back with a DP, oh and they didn’t reclaim any of my bonus and I got a big severance check to get out. Getting passed over sucks. But it opens other doors and opportunities. And there are people out here that still want you, need you, and value your contributions.

  12. WTF? Who are these people?? You should in no way, shape, or form expect anything like that! Anyone with any kind of viewpoint even remotely similar to this needs to be anonymously set on fire. ~Bendy

  13. @Desk Jobs Suck has quite the mouth on him for someone who hasn't even been hired by a unit. I'm sure he'd be a real pleasure to fly with. Probably why no one has given him a slot, considering the only requirement is to fog a mirror.

  14. Don't get discouraged by less than stellar numbers. There's more to it than that. I had crappy numbers when I was rushing. It took me a while but eventually I learned to focus on the positives that I could bring to the unit. I was too quick to talk about my age and college GPA during my introductions. Every squadron is different in what they want to see in folks that are rushing. It’s good walk the walk and back the talk. Making sure you will be the right fit for the squadron is also just as important as looking good on paper. my $0.02 Cheers 🍻
