  1. 6 of us in our squadron who are into GA. Some guys can’t fathom the thought of flying GA ever again and some of us love it. Flying is awesome, and there’s plenty of fun flying I get enjoyment out of that doesn’t involve blowing shit up and going fast (though I do love that too). To each their own.

  2. It's that Wiley's 180? RVs are awesome. I know the owner of this badass RV. He's not a Viper guy, just loves/appreciates what the military does and sees it as a tribute to the military. Great dude that built an immaculate RV-8, with a ridiculously awesome panel. That thing can fly full coupled ILS approaches and even has a freaking go-around button (only need to add power). What's crazy is that everything you see on there (patches/numbering/tail letters) was all hand painted...no stickers. You can't see it, but it even has the refuel door painted on the spine.

  3. I was floored how much fun an RV-8 was to fly. I’ve had a good family cruiser since I was 25, love it. The wife and I used to load it with camping gear for long trips. Stop when we got tired or wx was an issue and set up camp. We did Atlanta to Alaska and it was awesome. I don’t enjoy heavy IFR, I also had a mechanical close call once so I’m Much more cautious now of terrain and weather. The freedom of private flying is where it’s at for me. I love jets but the USAF doesn’t make flying really much fun overall. I’ll fly long after military work is done. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

  4. Jason has a great paint job! My RV-10 is at the same airport. I'm not a Viper guy either. (but my son is).

  5. No worries, dude! I'll definitely offer up the advice someone told me: make everyone tell you "No." Apply everywhere you'd consider applying to and to every airframe you'd think you'd enjoy flying. You're not out of any fight until they definitively have told you, "No," and closed the door on coming back for another application period. Unsponsored is good and you might have a leg up getting hired if you're already through OTS and here at UPT, because you've got pilot community connections helping make connections at a unit and an interested unit just has to agree to pick up the tab. In the Guard pipeline, this is doubly so, as they have to fight for each training slot (OTS, IFT/SERE, UPT, etc.); the Reserves just have you shunted to the 340th, which handles all training for all Reservists, regardless of the squadron. On the downside, until you get picked up, you're at the whim of the Reserves and don't have a "champion" of your cause. If you're picked up by a unit before starting the ride, you'll have them in your corner if you hit any bumps and to help push your paperwork. Pros and cons to both. Either way, just keep doing all you can to get that spot!

  7. You mean like your peanut gallery input you provided? Remember, I’ve stepped foot in a courtroom a few times. Not that you’d know anything of what happened to me other than hearsay. And we were talking about the president, government, things I studied and have a degree in. You on the other hand decided to take a personal shot because you really didn’t have anything constructive to provide to the debate.

  8. Because I have an opinion, like everyone else here, of the Russian investigation and stated it, like everyone else has in this thread?

  10. Tell me how a person wins CGOQ 10x? A certain CC told me this today. I shook my head, but internally thought WTF. I'm not trying to be a douchebag, but I would assume you didn't compete against anyone or you were the sole officer being submitted repeatedly. BREAK BREAK I had some E's bitching about the Operations Superintendent using bullets from everyone on his award package. Because he was competing against others who actually did all the work. I can see both sides of the argument.
