  3. MyPers showing results reported to Air Staff and SecAF with an estimated late June release date for the last O-5 board. Hopefully, at least for those of us that want it, we get some good news next month.

  4. PC approved. Initial submission was on 21 Nov, and as I look back at where everything sat it was the Wing and a Group that f*cked around with it all the most. Completed package got to AFPC/PC on 12 March...so, give them 2 months to process everything and you should be fine...don’t let the Group/Wing sit on stuff and hopefully everyone is smoother than my process. After all the delays and change to my requested DOS, ended up only being about 2 months off my UPT adsc. Good luck all.

  7. No, that was on 30 May 1995 when Major Donald Lowry of the 53FS/52FW, was killed when his F-15C (79‑0068) crashed immediately after taking off from Spangdahlem AB in Germany. Investigation showed that during routine maintenance, mechanics had crossed and mis-connected the control rods. Two mechanics were charged with negligent homicide. One took his own life during his military trial. After the amazing revelation that over-zealous prosecution had cost another life, the charges against the other mechanic were dropped (Source) Jackson's story goes like this... On March 9, 1987, Gene "Tornado" Jackson was taking off in F-15A, sn 77-075, when a rudder malfunction caused an uncommanded roll. It is believed one of the Aileron-Rudder Interconnect hydro-mechanical units failed. Reportedly he was told to eject on several occasions, but refused, stating the aircraft was too unstable and every time he released the controls, the aircraft started rolling towards base housing. He fought the aircraft until it was no longer a threat to anyone, but was unable to eject in time to save his own life. Twenty three years later the following was published in the Lufkin Daily News, on November 11, 2010; An unexpected letter reminded a former Lufkin man of the impact his brother's military death made more than 20 years ago. Refusing to eject out of a doomed fighter jet, Air Force Lt. Col. Gene Jackson protected the lives of others on the ground at the price of his own. When Jackie Jackson came home to see a letter addressed to his mother who died 12 years ago, he thought there must be some sort of mistake. It sat untouched for more than a month before Jackson and his father, Joe, of Lufkin, opened it. The letter sent by a man named James Maddox from Palmyra, N.Y., read: Jackie Jackson said he and his father were truly touched by the letter. While they have long since came to terms with Gene's death, they were touched someone would be thoughtful enough to thank the family of someone who gave everything. Gene left behind a wife and three small children... (Source)

  8. So a prototype is due in 2 years, which means the prototype will be delivered in 4 years, and 2x over budget. Live program will be delivered in 6-8 years and will pretty much look just like DTS.

  9. Pardon me if I refrain from rejoicing until we see how bad of an abortion the replacement system will be. Oh wait, it’ll probably take 10 years until it actually comes online. I’ll be well into my post AF career at Home Depot by that point while they take another 5 years to work out the lowest-bidder, “wasn’t in the contract requirements” bugs.

  10. To continue with the thread derail... I guess I’m old school/a terrible leader because I think the parking spots for Wing CC and other leadership (not fucking GS-15 or CCE, my God) are good because it’s a respect thing. Is it the most efficient use of parking spaces? No. But I think there’s a huge lack of respect in the military/American culture now. The E-3 and below parking spot type thing annoys me because that kid earns a spot over the E-5 that is his supervisor? What about the E-7 first shirt in the AMU that deals with the unbelievable amount of stupidity that comes along with that? I’m not very clearly articulating my point, but I hope it makes some sense. Standing by for righteous indignation from the peanut gallery.

  11. I've been spending some time at Hurlburt AFB. I haven't noticed one reserved spot for leadership at BX/Commissary/other only pregnant, purple heart and gold star. I think there's was a Lt and E4 and below spot. I'd like to say it didn't make me feel any different, it's just a parking spot...but it did. Especially coming from San Antonio area w/ there myraids of reserved parking (GS-15? GTFOH) and Offutt (which I still love) and the GO/Col/GS-15/CMSgt parking.

  12. It was a real kick in the nuts to wait almost 2 years after commissioning to start UPT, 2 weeks before assignment night to get told 2 of your 7 AD T-1s are going drones, spend more than a year in the drone pipeline, (I’ve been praying for the day to get back to a jet) but they are kicking us all out now. AFPC denied waivers for the UPT-D dudes that wanted to recat and stay drones. The gross mismanagement of people was very much apparent to me before I was even on active duty. UPT was a shimmer of hope, I loved flying almost everyday and raging with the bros. Now a mid level Capt, every time I see a step forward soon after there are two steps back.

  13. My favorite are the CGOC bakesale, “mentoring session,” or circle jerk session sent by the CGOC President..who also happens to be a finance LT, no wonder our finance shop is a mess/ never open/ takes 2 months to process vouchers.

  14. Wut? Mueller conducted an investigation and summarized his findings in a report, he didn't adjudicate the case. When a district attorney declines to bring murder charges against someone because they don't think they have evidence to meet burden of proof you thought that meant the state was declaring the individual innocent? You need to fire your criminal justice teacher. And for the record, if you go to trial and the verdict is "not guilty" that's not a declaration of innocence either.
