  1. I've always thought worldwide media is hilarious when they discuss civilian aviation events. This brings it to a whole new level. Some of my favorite quotes: penetrated Indian airspace in a “swarm merge attack formation.” - Wow. I wonder which they decide to do first? Kinda sounds like a mid-air waiting to happen. The opposing forces met at 10:01am. ..... while the last US-made fighter stayed on its path. It flew nearly 3km deep into Indian airspace, - Again - Wow. 3 whole km? So, I guess that occurred around 10:01 and .....say...... 10 seconds? The lone Pakistani jet was trailed by a MiG-21 Bison, piloted by Varthaman, and a Sukhoi plane. The Indian fighters performed a dogfight maneuver known as a ‘defensive split,’ effectively sandwiching the F-16, with the MiG flying ahead and the Sukhoi behind the PAF plane. - Uhhh.... so the Indians started with both their aircraft offensive, decided to fly a defensive maneuver and things finished up with the MiG-21 out front. The outlet noted that the Indian pilot could have turned around at that point and flown back home, but he decided to attack the escaping F-16 anyway. At 10:08am, Varthaman shot down the Pakistani fighter with an R-73 short-range missile. - So... once he was defensive, that would be the best time to "turn around...and fly back home"? Yet, somehow he decided to stick around and engage the F-16...that was behind him? Or I suppose the F-16 pulled his own defensive maneuver from the offensive position and got himself back out front. 🙄 I'm kind of picturing the SU-30 crew hawking the fight laughing - like watching a couple of drunks in a street fight for the sheer entertainment value. Or more likely, the media has no idea WTF they're reporting on. Either way - very funny.

  2. The MiG may have survived if he would have used the Defensive Egg

  3. Sweet irony: the attempted refresh of the "What's right with the Air Force?" thread to get it back on track and out of the DTS, GTC, and Email ditch shows a real sweet re-enlistment of a Vermont Guardsman. Go Guard!!

  8. If you haven’t seen Free Solo yet, I highly recommend it. The story being told is engrossing and even though you know the dude ends up climbing El Cap successfully, I’d be willing to bet you’re still holding your breath watching him dangle 2000’ above terra firma with little more than a thumb hold on a sheer rock face and a karate kick across a gap.

  9. I was in the age waiver process. Can confirm this applies to Guard. My application was pushed forward without it after this was released.

  11. I’ll never understand some of the AFSOC leadership that are so opposed to the Friday shirts, callsigns, etc. Dudes love showing off their squadron and having a little fun in their jobs. IMHO, this sort of thing is in direct contradiction to Goldfein and his “revitalize the squadron” initiatives. I’m sure some people don’t like them under the guise of “professionalism” or something but miss the forest for the trees.

  12. Welp, this thread pretty much sums up being a helo driver in the AF. Fighter and heavy dudes giving their perceptions of dirty, low-life helicopter pilots, mixed with pictures of their personal fantasies. All while the actual 11Hs on BODN just STFU, drink cheep beer and chuckle. Yes PM me if have any more questions. Still driving helos here on AD. BTw, there's nothing like flying a helo.

  13. Fify : what's wrong with the Air Force, I can only answer that question from my own tour duty and experience. My TIS was 1981- 2001. I was known as what was called a 17yr career Ssgt, but I was righteous. I have to agree with the member of the Top 3 Club, that they were part of the problem and they had their BS meeting at the club. One of the biggest problem especially at Shaw AFB was having Civilian in charge of the military. For Shaw in the early 90'swas known as " THE GOOD OLE BOY'S BASE OF THE SOUTH. " But truly it was a squadron of Racism and favoritism.where careers were unjustly made and destroyed. Point in contrast: An E5 an individual without honor or integrity. And who had no problem turning a blind eye on his own race for privileges and favoritism, when he turn a blind eye to a Civilian Supertendent's Racial Attitude and behavior, by pulling his I.G. complaint for a racial incident against that Supertendent, for favoritism which included: Firewall EPRs towards testing, no future deployments. Fact from 13 Aug 1991 until July 1997, that individual did Zero deployments.A promises of step promotions. There's alot I can say, but it's a long but true Story. Let's jus say, this individual was able to progress through the ranks to unjustly achieve the most honorable enlisted rank E 9 and service 30 yrs . True example of a ROAD LIFER.

  14. Good evening Gentlemen and lady's, decided to look back at some of you all comments and see if what I thought would happen to my comment, happen, which it did to no surprise to me. Administration pulled. Which basically mean that admin are probably members of the Top 3 Club and had their feelings hurt. And maybe I should apologize to them, if the truth hurts. " NOT!! . FOR I WILL NOT COMPROMISE MY HONOR, NOR MY INTEGRITY: By blowing smoke up somebody's Butt, or paint the truth through Rose Color Glasses. And for you young gentlemen who spoke of the Airman Oath and knowing the Air Force Songs as being traits of a true leader, you forgot one, the NCO CREED. Needles to say you don't know what you are you are talking about. For I lived by those beliefs, unlike the majority of the the NCOs, to them, they were mere words on a piece of paper, so feel good words to make their Airmen feel happy. They forgot it was their word, it was their promise to the to their Airmen and their families under them. Oh yes, these simple promise are signs of a true leader, as the fruit salad on ones Chest, or the strips on sports upon his sleeves at retirement. BUT THE TRUE CHARACTER OF THE INDIVIDUAL MAKES A TRUE LEADER.
