  2. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-47323045 Good video. Thousands of people cheered a flypast honouring 10 airmen who died when their plane crashed in a park 75 years ago. The US bomber came down in Endcliffe Park, Sheffield on 22 February 1944, killing everyone on board. A campaign for a flypast started after a chance meeting between BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker and Tony Foulds, who tends a park memorial. A tearful Mr Foulds was given a rousing round of applause as the planes flew over. He said: "This is unbelievable." Relatives of the aircrew and thousands of people from across Britain paid their respects as the planes roared over the memorial at about 08:45 GMT. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

  3. Point made... Don't choose a company based on the current labor relations (Pilots, FAs, AMTs, etc). That shit is so cyclical you'll never be able to keep up even when you work for the company. Look back at the overarching theme of this thread.... go with the first company that puts you in class and do your best to avoid a commute.

  4. Interesting article. Everyone serving should read Boyd. As to the Be vs Do choice, I think it’s simple. Be a “Do”er and let the chips fall where they may. If your career doesn’t take the trajectory you wanted, well at least you can look at yourself in the mirror. I’ve seen too many people compromise their character using the justification that if they can just move up the ranks they can affect real change. The moment you start down that rabbit hole is the moment your lobotomy begins. Next thing you know you’re pulling people out of scheduled training events to attend your mandatory all call where you stand around in ABUs (even though you’re a rated officer) where you pat yourself on the back repeatedly and insist on spending over an hour handing out awards to everyone on the base except for those who directly accomplish the mission.

  5. Insert name... this thread is not about the guard. Don’t assume that what’s mentioned here about AFRC applies there. The 3 branches are very different from one another. I urge you to use caution and perspective as you read these forums.

  6. I'm baffled why any new hopeful pilots even consider the Air Force after visiting this site.

  7. The Personnel chief here is telling me I have to have a year minimum in the unit before they can put me up for promotion. She says they have to have one Guard OPR to put me up for promotion. Does that check or is she just making stuff up? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

  9. And I've only seen two 11F select to 11S selects, and yes one did end up washing out from the V-22 FTU at Kirtland. Last I heard he was up for an FEB. *Edit - deleted comment mentioned above info.

  12. The AF has long since become not just a "One Mistake Air Force", but actually a "One Perception Of One Mistake Air Force." You'd be surprised how frequently a CDI, conducted by someone basically untrained and containing evidence and information unconstrained by any functional legal standard, is used for quite severe administrative actions under the authority of the Commander -- actions which, too, have such a low legal standard for evidence and justice so as they may effectively be given based on the whims of that Commander.

  13. Well, this must be the first time that someone who reads Baseops.net has been the subject of a roiling speculative discussion about some publicly embarrassing, scandalous event that happened to them, and that person has had to just sit back and watch the spears get baselessly thrown around. I don't know anyone who has had that experience.

  14. Welp, this thread pretty much sums up being a helo driver in the AF. Fighter and heavy dudes giving their perceptions of dirty, low-life helicopter pilots, mixed with pictures of their personal fantasies. All while the actual 11Hs on BODN just STFU, drink cheep beer and chuckle. Yes PM me if have any more questions. Still driving helos here on AD. BTw, there's nothing like flying a helo.
