So I just contracted today at my det, and got fitted for all uniform articles right afterwards as well. Being a tall guy (6'7"), as well as having extremely large feet, there were a few items that weren't fitting so well. Most notably were the blues shirts, both long and short sleeved. The biggest issue that I have is that the shirt itself just isn't long enough for my torso. The sleeves and collar are long/big enough, but there just isn't enough to where I can really tuck in the shirt to make it stay in, plus the tag sewn on the front is showing above the pants. I tired searching online for a while to see if there were some "tall" blues shirt sizes, but I couldn't find any.

I was wondering if there are any other tall guys out there who have run into this, and what all can be done to try and fix this issue. Thanks

Who knows. I wear the most popular size flight suit and they've been on back order for 4 months so far and aren't scheduled to be in until May of next year. The uniform contracts, just like most other Air Force contracts are a joke. Good luck.

Every May 13th... you don't?

Edit: Ripple fire.

You're not supposed to sag the blues pants...

But seriously, you're not that much taller than me and I have never had a problem. I wear the Propper brand blues, so the shirts are a lot more expensive, but maybe that's the difference.

Go buy a stitch ripper (looks like a tiny pickle fork) and get rid of the tag. Better yet, get the tailor to do it when you get your pants hemmed. While you're there, make sure they take in the sides of your shirts as much as possible, or you'll be stuffing a sails-worth of extra shirt under your belt.

If the tag removal isn't enough, you may have to rock shirt garters all the time, not just for inspections.

If you nab a rated slot - I hear the custom tailored flight suits are the same price...ask around before you get to pilot training, because you aren't going to have time to get them when you arrive.

Alright, thanks for the responses. I'll definitely see what I can get a tailor to do, hopefully I won't need to rock the shirt garters, but whatever. But if I were to try to see if the Propper blues were any different, is there someplace I can find them? I really don't think my detachment has any sitting in their storeroom.

They didn't have my sizes at Lackland when I went through BMT. I went through the whole program without long sleeve shirts.

I've had bad luck in getting clothing sales to special order anything. The one time I did, the shirts didn't fit at all. I'm glad they didn't make me pay for them.

Bags were a challenge. The alterations place had to rip out around five inches of material on the sides to fit me. Fortunately, the side zipper pockets were completely removed (that was a few years back).
