There are many things people feel strongly about. There are ways to manage those things in our republic and in Lawrence vs Texas the Supreme Court struck down sodomy laws. The legal issue about the sexual acts has been settled. For now. That decision, like any other, can be reversed and if so there will be a new law of the land.
However, if anyone says they are serving their country because of the things they have an opinion on or believe are true they it can be logically inferred by those holding a contrary view that what they believe in is wrong and even treasonous.
It is therefore totally inappropriate to drape oneslf in the flag and use their military service as a weapon to defend their beliefs, whatever side of an issue they happen to fall. Personal beliefs are personal.
There are many issues where people on both sides use the liberty argument. Luckily, the first amendment protects that speech. Just because someone believes something doesn't make what others believe wrong. Or right.
Tolerance goes both ways and our constitutional republic system of government allows us to work it out without everyone having to agree upon everything all the time. It also allows for change. In multiple directions.
So, relative to the topic...there is absolutely nothing wrong with someone having an issue over the Pentagon setting up a special day of recognition for people who engage in a certain form of sexual behavior. It is difficult to comprehend why anyone would think it is appropriate to single out something so personal. It's like having an Abortion Pride day.

Except that now they're adopting/surrogate parenting. "Finding out" they're gay after dropping a few kids in a relationship with a breeder.
Cheating the system basically.

I like it when I get lectured about people who enjoy being disrespectful and demand I honor their behavior and beliefs and if I fail to do so I am intolerant.

Didn't you read earlier in this thread? You are the white guy, everyone gets to catch up after so many years of your oppressive regime.

But, do 100s of turd burglars dancing around like Kansas City faggots at parades around the country several times a year represent your "community"?

Some would argue that, in fact, there isn't a "community as a whole" that can be completely defined by sexuality alone.
That's why people have issues with the celebration of a certain type of specific sexual behavior. The argument is, if you are not supposed to care about anyone's sexual behavior why are you then supposed to celebrate certain specific sexual behavior?
Can be kind of confusing for many, including those clumped into a "community" of diverse people.

I always found it weird that people automatically think about sex when they think of gay people. When I think about my parents being straight I don't think about them having sex nor do I think about my older brother having sex when I talk about him and his boyfriend.
The military isn't celebrating their sexual behavior, they are celebrating that gay people have and are serving with honor and distinction. We can do that without thinking about how they had sex last night. I don't care about their "sexual behavior."

Cool. Can you see that you are supporting the point I just made?
So what makes a gay and straight people different if it isn't sexual behavior? That answer would clear up a lot of confusion.

Probably the fact that, up until a year ago, they were heavily discriminated against by the military as a specific group of people. A small, relatively un-newsworthy event seems like a rather benign mea culpa, especially considering the fucked up paranoid suppression of their personal lives that they've had to deal with over the years.
