Dudes,

I posted this in some finance thread but got no love specific to the reserve world. I just need to know if any of you reserve bubbas (like me) received DLA for your PCSs during training. Finance at my home station has denied me DLA for PCS to the B course and then back to home station on the grounds that I was technically owned by my home station the whole time and therefore pseudo-TDY. Please let me know if you were able to solve this riddle because I've been fighting the good fight for almost 6 months now trying to receive these PCS entitlements clearly states in my orders.

Cheers

Check the JTFR first, you can only get DLA every x months, and your LAST PCS as a reserve/guard is treated like a final (retire) PCS, meaning no DLA. dont let em' F* ya!

I got DLA when I PCS'd to Sheppard for UPT......
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made so and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." - John Stuart Mill

I also received DLA for my pcs to Laughlin. I could not receive it though when I pcsed back. Apparently there's a reserve reg somewhere that only allows DLA once per order. Same applies with TLE.

I received it when PCSing to PCola, too with no problems. My buddies that have finished training and "PCS'ed" home have told me they didn't get it then. Theres some BS in the JTFR about reservists/guardsmen coming off active duty and not receiving it then.

Now if you stay on orders because its less than 30 days before you head out to follow on training, could you get it then, since you aren't "separating" from your active duty orders or not, I have no idea. I'm not gonna hold my breath.

You should be getting DLA though. Your orders say it, the JTFR says it, and we've all gotten it.

Have you asked anyone besides the shoes in finance? Your OPs squadron? Your student flight superintendent? Anyone that has gone to the same training from your home unit? If you haven't noticed, finance acts like its coming out of their personal pockets and you need to get a copy of the JTFR and put it on your commode.

It's by fiscal year, rather than months... You could get DLA for two PCSs if they happened in September and October 2012, but not for November 2012 and September 2013. OTOH, there is a provision that if your PCS was required for pipeline training the FY rule is out the window and you can get DLA for as many PCSs as are required (as a helo guy once pointed out to me).

I've only spoken to finance and our orders specialists - Was hoping I could resolve this without pestering higher ups in my squadron but that seems to be the next step. I've shown them point blank the reg in JFTR as well as my orders (which are continuing for 3 years...no separation), but I keep getting "because you entered active duty here you can't get it..." followed by BS and no clear or firm answers. I'll post back if I ever get this resolved.
