I can't cut and paste from the magazine, so I'll try to download and attach the PDF file.

Here's the basics:

In this month's ALPA magazine, the in-house monthly magazine of the Airline Pilot's Association, there an article on the ALPA code of ethics. They highlight an American Eagle FO by the name of Timothy Martins. Mr. Martins claims to fly F-16's for the NJANG, out of Atlantic City with the 177th FW.

One of our pilots at CAL is a member of that particular unit and funny thing - they've never heard of him. According to our guy, the unit commander even called ALPA to complain and was basically given a cold shoulder. So, before this goes any further, does anybody out there know Timothy? Perhaps he was quoted incorrectly. Perhaps somebody here knew him from UPT or OTS or could look him up.

I turn it loose to the detectives at baseops!

Not passing judgement yet, if Mr. Martins is legit, he won't be the least bit upset that those of us who served were perhaps a bit concerned about what appears to be a case of [Not going to say it yet!]

Post the article. A buddy of mine from my Viper B course flies for the NJANG. I'll ask him and send him a copy.
The average Air Force pilot, despite the sometimes swaggering exterior, is very much capable of feelings such as love, affection, intimacy and caring. These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Now, before we burn the witch has anyone tried to build a bridge out of him?

Seriously, on every single interview I have ever given to any news organization, I have been quoted incorrectly.

I'm not saying he's not a witch, I'm saying let's burn the witch and the media.

Check the Global would be my suggestion.

I checked. There's nobody between Sergio and Vitor Martins. Wait, did somebody say Sergio?!?

I'm not sure if guard guys are in the global. I have a hard time thinking that a pilot in that unit wouldn't know every single other pilot, guard squadrons are small. Maybe he has been selected to attend pilot training by the NJANG and was misquoted.

Strange google search results. First result is a money scammer warning, but I'm sure it's a common name.

His faa info lists an address as living on Long Island, does the AC guard unit require you to live within 50 miles?

not really, once you're in the door, domicile is pretty flexible, especially amongst airline dudes who can jumpseat .

**There is a Capt. Tim Martin at syracuse in the global (mx group). .It is the only name even remotely matching.

I'll post the article. But if I were a betting man, I'd guess the kid just said "I'm in the Jersey guard" and the reporter ran with it from there.

Man, I sure hope you're right. It's not a direct quote but I'm thinking he probably said something he shouldn't have. Nobody in the unit has even heard of him.

I think it's just a little to funny that this article is about ethics and this guy is telling tall tales.

Come on guys....

You have (or had) one of the best jobs there is. Don't you have better ways to spend you time than outing someone who MAY be playing fighter pilot in the media. You're taking yourselves waaaayyy too seriously.

I admit I have a hard time having sympathy on this one........Not a good way to spend the public's tax dollars.

From the article:

Quote

He flies F-16s as a member of the 177th Fighter Wing...F-15s might be next.

I'm with you on that one. What AF pilot, guard or active, says, "Yeah, I fly 16s. I might fly 15s at some point. We'll see..."
EDIT: Nope, Steve Davies is right, this guy's is a Douchebag liar.

So I found Tim on facebook. His facebook page would suggest starving regional F/O with no military service. I sent him this message (Tim, I don't know you, but there are several people that are curious about your credentials. I guess you did an interview for ALPA and it came out that you fly vipers and may move to the eagle with the NJANG. If you get a moment check out the link below. I'm sure these guys would like to get to know you. Fly Safe,
Dave)
I included a link to this topic. We shall see if he responds.

I sure do hope Tim was misquoted. Telling some fib in a bar to a drunk girl is one thing, but if you're in a magazine article carrying the title of: code of ehtics role model, with a banner of "mature beyond his years"?

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that this is all a misunderstanding. Tim? If you're reading this, I sure do hope you take the time to enlighten us.

PS - He's not in the NJ KC-135 unit either. Funny what a small world aviation is. According to the guy in the Viper squadron, after their initial brush-off, ALPA called the Commander back and said they contacted Tim, who is sticking to his claim. :nob:

That was the part that made me laugh as soon as I opened up the article. How ironic.

What a fucking idiot. I don't understand how people think they can outright lie in a medium such as a magazine and not get caught. Did he really think nobody in the mil aviation community would see this?

The photos on his FB page are a little strange. There are a bunch of generic Viper shots from af.mil and the like, plus what appears to be some shots of a Viper tub with a Lieutenant sitting in the back. The caption says, "Lt Tim "Milkman" martins".

Strangely...for a guy in a B-course...he's wearing an American flag on his shoulder:

http://www.facebook....142&id=78400051

His other FB photos show him at some "Regional Airline Academy" wearing 1 stripe on his epaulets in 2006.
http://www.facebook....761&id=78400051

Needless to say, a lot of inconsistencies based on the photos and captions he's got posted in there.

EDIT: This keeps getting better and better! A quick Google led to Mr Martins' LinkedIn page, on which he says he's a 2006 USAFA grad (even though his Facebook profile has one of his networks as "Dowling Alum '05")!
